Dog Days of Summer

When I told people in my life that I'd be starting a blog, 90% of them naturally assumed that it would be overrun with pictures of my dog by now. I'd like to point out to those people that I've made it an entire month without even mentioning Huxley's name (SO THERE)! But I can't go on like this, the readers deserve the truth. And the truth is: we are the owners of 3 of the greatest creatures alive in the whole wide world. And you deserve the chance to get to know them. So come, feast your eyes upon puppy pictures, and get to know these magnificent gentlemen (and lady).

Huxley was a Christmas gift from Ben. And by Christmas gift, I mean I found him at a shelter online and told Ben that's what he was getting me (or else). Best gift ever, no? He'll be 4 years old in September.

Huxley is a creature of superior intellect. He was opening cupboards on his own at 10 weeks old, and now he has a more sophisticated vocabulary than I do. Sometimes he gives you these looks like he's trying SO HARD to tell you something.

Likes: broccoli, ice cream, watching dog videos on YouTube, FaceTiming with his friends, talking to humans, and Olivia.
Dislikes: being picked up, other dogs being bigger than him, bananas, and baby gates.

Skyla rescued Ziggy from a yucky no-good shelter in the dead of winter. When she was looking for one to adopt, she said she liked Corgis and Shiba Inus. We're not quite sure what he is, but I think he's 100% doge.

Ziggy is just a happy guy who is SO EXCITED ABOUT EVERYTHING OMG. Sometimes we think he's more alien/cat hybrid than dog. All he really wants is for everyone to love him all the time.

Likes: catching flies, standing very close to people's faces, chasing Olivia, basically everything
Dislikes: stomping, anyone else getting attention, the basement, learning to swim

Olivia is a sass-a-frass. She's also Huxley's girlfriend (but he's way more invested in the relationship than she is). She's basically the poster-child for perfect cats.

Likes: knocking over water glasses, going outside, catnip, mischief
Dislikes: being inside, not being outside, and the indoors.

  1. AWWWW is he an Aussie?! I have a mini Aussie and I swear she knows more words than I do! It is crazy, every single toy has a different name and when we ask her to go get it, she always gets the right one! Crazy intelligent!!!!!!!
