The Ultimate Guide to Twitter Chats for Beauty, Fashion & Lifestyle Bloggers

Hey guys! We've decided to do a small series on a few of the blogging tools we've found most helpful in our brief-but-wondrous adventure into the blogosphere. So we're here on an early Sunday morning with coffee in hand to talk about Twitter. Pre-blog, I had a rocky relationship with everyone's favorite social steam-engine. But I've since seen the light, and let me tell you: if you're a blogger/brand and you're not on twitter, you're doing it wrong. Plain and simple.




But being at the party won't do you much good if you're not joining in the fun, and that's why Twitter Chats will be your new best friend. What is a Twitter Chat, you ask? It's a public conversation that anyone can take part in by using the associated hashtag in their tweets. They're generally moderated by a leader who posts a series of questions, allowing others to answer and interact with each other's answers. This is essential for new bloggers, because it allows you to take part in conversations even when they haven't found their way into your feed yet.


So let's say you want to talk to other Beauty bloggers. At 3pm (8pm UK time) you'd log into twitter or your favorite twitter chat client (I like Tweetchat) and search for the #bbloggers hashtag. You'll find the tweets of everyone participating in the conversation, all you have to do is jump in. Did someone say something you agree with? Retweet it, or tell them why you think they're a genius (in 140 characters) This isn't the time to be shy. Just be sure to use the chat hashtag, like #bbloggers, in each of your tweets (Tweetchat does this for you automatically). At the end of each chat, everyone usually exchanges links, which leads to new followers for your blog.
