Hello lovelies! Hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing holiday weekend. We were so busy last week with packing, writing, trip planning and everything else, it was so nice to spend a few laid back days visiting family and eating amazing food. We went to a handful of picnics and cookouts, picked wild berries in the woods, and shot a beautiful vineyard wedding. And today we'd love to check in and give you an idea of what we've been up to lately. Let us know if you've been reading/listening to/doing/thinking anything fun, we'd love your recommendations!
Doing:
Moving! Well, Skyla is moving out of our house and into an adorable little apartment down the street with Tony. We'll miss her (Huxley will be heartbroken without Ziggy & Olivia) but we're excited to decorate a whole new place! And she'll be just down the road, so the pups will still get plenty of play time.
We've also been writing and coming up with some exciting new ideas for the blog. A few little weekend trips, a few major projects, and maybe even a vlog will be coming your way soon, so stay tuned!
Thinking:
Lately I've caught myself obsessing over nervous responses and stupid comments I made in conversations that took place days, weeks, and months ago. I know everyone does this, but sometimes I need a reminder to just let it go! I'll never be someone who feels completely comfortable in conversation, and that's OK.
Wanting:
I've been avoiding the Topshop sale as much as possible. I know that the minute I cave and check it out it'll capture my heart with adorable prints and perfect crops, and my paycheck will be gone. Again. Meanwhile Skyla keeps temping me with sandals and amazing mid century modern furniture. Life is hard.
Watching:Skyla finally started watching Game of Thrones (better late than never!) and I'm just now catching up on the last season of American Horror Story. Apparently we save our dark and spooky entertainment for the summertime.
Listening:
Skyla has the new Tiger's Jaw album Charmer on repeat, which is fantastic and highly recommended. I've been sticking to my usual summer jams: past archived episodes of This American Life and Radiolab. Seriously, check them out if you haven't yet.
Reading
I recently joined a Blogger Book Club and their first pick was The One and Only by Emily Griffin. Between the southern sports culture and the questionable love triangles, it's definitely pushing me outside my comfort zone. I'm also rereading the 4th book of the Game of Thrones series. The show's finale was so intense I couldn't go a year without it. Skyla has been glued to Confessions of a Sociopath: a Life Spent Hiding in Plain Sight, which sounds so interesting it might be next on my list as well!Planning:
Volunteering at the Rape Crisis Center. Visiting the ocean. Finding a second job. Learning how to make the perfect hollandaise sauce. Improving relationships. Staycations. And more bike rides!
What about you? What have you been up to? Do you have any thoughts or recommendations for us? We'd love to hear it!
